The Rushville-Industry High School Accounting class attended the WIU Accounting Challenge in Macomb on Friday. The RIHS team took all first, second, and third place slots in their division with Kai Smice placing first, Dylan Koch placing second, and Trent Parton placing third. Each placing student earned a scholarship to major in Accounting at WIU.

The day began with a team-building activity led by WIU Beta Alpha Psi members, demonstrating the use of auditing procedures in action with the local area high school students serving as auditors. The students then completed an individual Accounting knowledge assessment. The morning session concluded with a panel discussion led by former WIU Accounting graduates working for companies such as RSM Assurance, Caterpillar, and Archer-Daniels-Midland Company. The panelists shared with the attending high school students what different career pathways and opportunities exist in the Accounting field, as well as personal experiences they have had in their careers.
